The book is written for beginners and experienced players alike. For beginners, we illustrate five simple strategies with examples that you can run using sudokuTutor as you read. For more experienced players, we illustrate four more advanced strategies that you can use on your computer with sudokuTutor to solve harder puzzles.
With sudokuTutor, you can also generate fresh new puzzles at different difficulty levels, enter a puzzle that you found in a newspaper, or share solving a puzzle with a friend, which we call "social Sudoku." By teaching you these new skills, the book takes you to a new level of enjoyment with this fascinating game.
The author is a computer scientist with many years of experience teaching and writing about complex technical subjects for beginning audiences. While writing this book and developing sudokuTutor itself, he has tried to create an easy-to-read and enjoyable hands-on learning and puzzling experience.
